The more I use these picks the more I like them. I like the price too.

    Total novice likes them

I never picked a lock before, but I watched a few Youtube videos and made some half-baked tools which didn't work. But I bought this set and had a door lock open in seconds. Very nice feel to them.

    Best Introductory Set Available

There really isn't a better set of tools for the beginning lockpicker, or a picker of any vintage on a budget. The case is wonderful and holds up to a lot of abuse, and the price is great. The high quality metal and the upgraded rippled handles which sit very nicely in the hand are both surprisingly nice for a set at this price.

    Perfect for this novice ..

I guess I started like many with a couple of paper clips and did Kk with basic padlocks. Then I really got the bug and got one of the Amazon sets that proved to be a bit better. I had purchased a lock with security pins and even though I was finally able to pick it, I found myself fighting the tension bar and picks. I then ordered this set and everything got better. The tension bars stayed put and I could feel the lock much better. The picks were finished nicely and the corrugated handles were so much easier to hold. My abilities grew ... For $14.00, a steal

Shipping was very quick, despite having to travel to the great white north. The case I received was coloured slightly different than the one pictured here, and looks pretty cool IMO. Let's start with the tension wrenches. After playing around with a few locks, I've found that these wrenches are nice for padlocks where you have a lot more room to maneuver, however they are quite awkward for handling doors where you have little clearance between the lock and the frame. Instead you can orient it the other way or use the top of the keyhole, but I've found that the thickness doesn't mate well. In retrospect I think I would have preferred a wrench that you hold parallel with the keyhole rather than this style as I've run into problems with padlocks as well. I've heard that seasoned lock pickers have a variety of tension wrenches in their arsenal, so all things considered this set is good enough to get you started. As for the picks themselves, the crinkled grips work fairly well and they feel pretty sturdy. The only picks I've found any use for so far are the diamond, hook, and rake-like picks. The rest I doubt I'll find any use for. I would have much rather had a three humped rake than the ball and half ball picks. This set has kept me amused for a little while, but I think I'm going to upgrade the tension wrench and add a rake to my set.

great product + very nice case

The hardware is very well made but the snap on the case is very stiff keeping everything inside it and secure.
